WILLS
Why should I consider creating a Will?
Your Will is one of the most important gifts you can leave to the people you care about. It sets out who should inherit your estate, who will look after your children, and who you trust to carry out your wishes.
Without a valid Will, those decisions may be made according to the law rather than your personal wishes. We take the time to create clear, legally robust Wills that reflect exactly what you want, explained in plain English and tailored to your circumstances, with no unnecessary jargon and no pressure.
Why having a Will matters
Without a valid Will, your estate is distributed according to the rules of intestacy rather than your personal wishes.
This can produce outcomes you never intended, potentially leaving an unmarried partner unprotected, dividing assets differently from your expectations, and placing additional emotional and financial strain on your family at an already difficult time.
A professionally drafted Will ensures that you remain in control. You decide who benefits from your estate, choose trusted executors to administer it, appoint guardians for young children, and can leave specific gifts, charitable legacies or personal messages to the people and causes that matter most to you.
Put simply, a Will provides clarity, certainty and peace of mind helping to protect your loved ones and ensuring your wishes are carried out exactly as you intend.
How we make it straightforward
We begin with a friendly, no-obligation conversation and whether that's over the phone, by video call, or in the comfort of your own home. It’s an opportunity for us to understand your family circumstances, your assets, and what matters most to you.
There’s no pressure and no obligation, and your initial consultation is always free.
Once we understand your wishes, we'll recommend the most suitable Will for your needs and prepare a draft for you to review.
We then go through everything together, explaining each section in clear, straightforward language so you fully understand what it means and how it works.
When you're completely satisfied, we ensure your Will is signed and witnessed correctly, giving you the confidence that it is legally valid and accurately reflects your intentions.
Mirrored Wills for Couples
- Many couples opt for Mirror Wills, separate Wills that reflect one another, typically leaving everything to each other first and then to their children or chosen beneficiaries.
- They offer a straightforward and cost-effective way for partners to ensure their wishes are aligned and that each other is protected.
- We can prepare both Wills during the same appointment, making the process simple, convenient and stress-free.

Will vs Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)
"A simple way to think about it."
Although they are often discussed together, a Will and a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) do very different jobs.
A Will takes effect after you die.
It sets out who should inherit your assets, who will administer your estate, and, if applicable, who should care for your children.
It ensures your wishes are followed and provides clear guidance for your loved ones at a difficult time.
HOW IT WORKS
Key Benefits of Having a Will.
01
You decide who Inherits your Assets
Without a valid Will, your estate is distributed according to the rules of intestacy, not necessarily according to your wishes. A Will allows you to decide exactly who receives your money, property and possessions.
02
You choose your Estate Executor
You can appoint trusted executors to deal with your affairs, pay debts and ensure your wishes are carried out. Without a Will, the court may appoint someone else.
03
Protect your Children
If you have children under 18, a Will allows you to appoint guardians to care for them if both parents die. Many parents are surprised to learn that this decision could otherwise be left to the courts.
04
Reduce Family Disputes
Clear instructions can prevent disagreements between family members at what is already a difficult time. A well-drafted Will removes uncertainty and helps avoid conflict.
05
Protects Vulnerable
Benefits
A Will can include trusts or specific arrangements for children, disabled relatives, or beneficiaries who may need financial protection or guidance.
06
Support Inheritance Tax Planning
For many families, a Will forms an important part of broader estate planning and can help ensure available tax allowances and reliefs are used effectively.
07
Deal with Business Interests
If you own a business or company shares, a Will helps ensure your succession plans are clear and aligned with your wider business arrangements.
08
Give your Family Peace of Mind
A Will provides clear instructions at a time when loved ones may be grieving. It can make estate administration easier, quicker and less stressful.
How much does a Will cost?
We believe in clear, honest pricing with no hidden costs and no unexpected bills. Before any work begins, we'll agree a fixed fee with you, so you'll know exactly what you're paying from the outset.
Because every family and every Will is different, the cost depends on your individual circumstances and the complexity of your wishes.
During your free, no-obligation consultation, we'll discuss your requirements and provide a straightforward fixed quote tailored to your needs.
Do I need a Solictor to write my Will?
No. A Will does not need to be drafted by a solicitor to be legally valid. What matters is that it is prepared correctly and signed and witnessed in accordance with the legal requirements.
At Falcon Legacy Planning, we prepare professionally drafted Wills tailored to your circumstances and ensure that every document is executed properly.
We guide you through the process in plain English, giving you the confidence that your Will accurately reflects your wishes and will stand up to scrutiny when it is needed most.
Can you visit me at Home?
Absolutely. We offer home appointments throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire at no additional cost.
Many of our clients appreciate the comfort and convenience of discussing their plans in familiar surroundings, and for those with mobility concerns, health conditions or caring responsibilities, a home visit can make the process much easier.
Whether at your kitchen table, over the phone or by video call, we provide the same friendly, professional guidance and take the time to ensure you feel comfortable, informed and under no pressure.
How oftern should I update my Will?
It's a good idea to review your Will whenever there is a significant change in your life. Major events such as marriage, divorce, the birth of a child or grandchild, purchasing a property, or the death of a beneficiary or executor can all affect whether your Will still reflects your wishes.
Even if nothing has changed, we recommend reviewing your Will every few years to ensure it remains up to date and appropriate for your circumstances. It's particularly important to review your Will if you marry, as marriage will usually revoke an existing Will unless it was specifically drafted in contemplation of that marriage.
A regular review gives you the reassurance that your wishes remain clear, your loved ones are protected, and your estate will be distributed exactly as you intend.
